This week was really focused on getting our interview and initial questions answered. To get you caught up, we are conducting our interviews for our podcast episodes about WWII, but also in the midst of learning the history of WWII. The last couple of weekly reflection posts, I’ve sort of focused on the podcasting aspect of it, and this week as we were progressing our knowledge in World War II, we watched a 44 minute episode entitled “United at War | Canada: The Story of Us”. Now why I’m talking about this specifically, is because when you’re watching your favourite show, and its a long long episode, it can feel like 15 minutes when the episode is really an hour long. I have never watched one of these episodes from the United at War series, but 44 minutes and 33 seconds felt like 10 minutes, and thats how I knew I really enjoyed learning from it.

Not only was the production amazing, because it always kept your brain stimulated, they put cliffhangers in the right places, and used dramatization to their fullest extent, but the story was interesting. I think this episode demonstrated the competency of cause and consequences, and also establishing historical significance. This is actually one of the first times I’ve ever felt so confident about seeing a curricular competency in a real life project! They picked and chose the most significant and important events/dates that supported their topic and showed the causes and consequences of it. I loved the way they conveyed the message they aimed to convey, but also made it enjoyable and intriguing. This weekend, I’m planning to watch another episode actually, the next one in the series. I’ll keep you all updated, but if you watch this episode, let me know in the comments what you felt, and how you liked it!
