For our most recent unit in class we have been studying why people of the old world explored into the new world and who these explorers were. Our project for this unit was making comics on one of these explorers in class. These comics are on explorers of the new world or the people who discovered America. Of these people Logan, Luca, Kailey and me (blogs are linked) chose Cortes who was one of the main discoverers of Central America and Mexico.
To make these comics we first had to learn general knowledge on why people explored in the first place. To learn this we did lots of research online and we went through university textbooks to seek out pieces of in depth information. In all of our research we found the reason they explored was pretty much for these reasons. The first reason is for money in the form of spices. The second reason is to bring glory to their country/ themselves. The third reason is to find new land that the explorer could claim for themselves or their country. They only explored for personal gain for the most part. After this we had to go to the app comic life which is a great app for any comic related business. Of course for our comic books we made several drafts because it wouldn’t be PLP if we didn’t. Here’s my critique:

This was a very short unit as it didn’t last any longer than seven or eight classes. My final thought for this unit is that it was a very efficient way to learn about explorers of the new world and how they lived their lives out. I learned a lot of information in a relatively short amount of time. Overall a great unit!
