Spring Exhibition!
Welcome back to my blog! Today we are talking about the spring exhibition! Just before winter break we had an exhibition and mPOLS similarly just before summer break we had our spring exhibition and are now on to tPOLS so stay updated to see that blog! Anyway lets move back to talking about the spring exhibition. We are going to talk about what the exhibition was about what were my strengths, weaknesses, what we did differently, and what I would do differently next time.
So what was this spring exhibition about, well we were focused on what is media and how it sends a message. To show what we learned about advertising we created ads. Everyone was put in groups that group would make ads for the company. The companies that we used were ones that we visited on the Oregon coast so we got to interview them! My company was wolf haven which is a wolf sanctuary. If you read my last blog you would see the information page that I wrote on why it is important and what it is. Without further adoo here is my ad:
Now onto what were my strengths. Well straight off the bat I had an idea of what I want it to be and how to make that. I also had a lot of experience using Canva which is the app that we used. I also had a very strong interview which helped me get and understanding of the company I was advertising. Another thing that helps is that I love to present wether it be to the public or my family I love to talk and showcase my work. All these things combined plus my love for designing helped me in the exhibition and project.
My weaknesses or the hardest part for me was submitting all of the drafts because even if there were small fixes there was a lot to play around with and finish. I also don’t like filling out Launch Journals so that was also not hard but just not my favourite.
This time around I feel like we did a way better job in general with everything. We were in a gym rather then separate rooms and it was only grade 8’s. I think that helped because we actually had class together so it was easier to organize and less people to worry about. Which helped us make our booths look better. This time around I think all of the groups had really pretty and well thought our booths. For wolf haven we had a wolf crossing sign that my dad welded and I brought a giant wolf plush. We had green table cloths and paw prints and branches. We also were able to clean up faster because if it being booths rather than rooms however putting away the mats in the gym floor was really irritating. Last thing is I was a lot more confident going into this exhibition because we had done it before so I knew what to expect and how it works which definitely helped.
Things I would do differently next time. I would wear really comfy shoes because we have to stand for an hour and then I would also bring a big water bottle so that when you’re mouth gets dry from all of the talking you can quench your thirst.
Overall I think I did and the rest of the class did a much better job than the last time. From clean up to overall design and food I think we did great.
