So currently in Humanities we are reading this book called Leviathan. This books genre is steampunk. Leviathan is a book series set in the World War 1 time period but it includes weapons and machines that are more futuristic. Steampunk is anything retro and aesthetic turned into something more futuristic, it consists of science fiction, fantasy and steam powered machines. It can be anything like art, music, and fashion. Now that you know what steampunk is I can tell you my inquiry question.

My question is “ What influences people today to dress in the steampunk fashion style?”

Steampunk fashion is mostly clothing of the Victorian era’s in a lot of different styles. In 2005 Kate founded the first steampunk clothing companyThe fashion is designed with a post-apocalyptic era in mind. Steampunk fashion consists of clothing, hairstyling, jewelry, and make-up. The fashion is filled with different trends and styles. What influences people back then was the fashion of the mid 19th century. For women this fashion was often dominated by long, flowing dresses and regal jacket bodices. In the 1860s new styles emerged and the Garibaldi blouse, made its appearance. Dresses for women were sometimes masculine tailored and made to look intimidating.

Now a days people wear steampunk fashion to show a statement. Some people wear it for the trends and some people because they like the style. The clothing manly shows punk and goth styles. Modern trends in the fashion are for sci-fi cosplayers and most people who wear steampunk clothing wear it for steampunk events.
