“Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.”
Throughout my courses I’ve learned a lot and had many favourite projects in Maker, Humanities, and Science, these projects include ww1 con (obviously), let’s get riel, metaphor machines, rise of the frankenstuffies, seeing double, thrill us, and handle with care.
Maker
This year in maker I would miss out on showing off my learning with my assignments but I had a lot of fun working on projects and getting to know other students in my class. Next year I’m excited to be a better listener during lessons and not stray off topic. We did not do many projects in Maker this year but I had a fun time getting to know my group members in Thrill Us! And working to make a movie we could show to the class (even though I would’ve liked to spend more time on it).
Science
In science I often didn’t have a problem with getting my work done, most of my assignments would be completed and handed in on time, there were the odd missing assignments but for the most part I was on time and enjoyed my work. I always like learning about how our world works and the science projects we learned about answered a lot of my questions. I often wonder about how certain things work and the science behind them and love to find the explanation. Learning the cells that make our world was really fun for me. I still remember and think about the lessons I learned over a year ago in grade 8. I’m so excited to continue to learn new things in grade 10. This year one project in science that stuck out to me were seeing double, and handle with care. In seeing double I learned about reproductive cells and how they work, I think I did well in this project because I wanted to learn about these cells and what each one does and the different types of reproduction in different species and organisms. My favourite type of cell reproduction was budding.
Humanities
In humanities I would often struggle with handing in my work on time, I always had trouble with social studies assignments and finding parts of it that spiked my interest. I did have interest in my assignments this year but sadly my motivation in completing some assignments slowed me down and the finished product didn’t show my interest as much as I would’ve wanted to. In our WW1 con project I worked very hard to get my work done on time, and complete revisions, especially on my comic (even though I did not make the exact due date).
This is me fixing a revision!!
I hope to keep these habits up into grade 10 and with any of my goals / projects over the summer.Â
With this I’m very ready and excited to go into grade 10 and even though there will be more pressure on me to do well, I’m ready to try my best. I can find passion in my projects and show off my learning and be proud of myself, and I can become the learner I’ve seen in other people I envied over the years.Â
Since my mPOL I think I have made some good progress on my goal of getting my work done and handing it in. These past months I feel I’ve grown as a learner from someone to procrastinates a lot to someone who procrastinates a lot less! I’ve learned to tell myself not to wait until my class is over and forget about my homework after schools , I’ve developed good habits of working hard and finding ways to get my work done without getting bored or giving up. Even though quite a few of my assignments haven’t been handed in on time I’ve had much less trouble with getting work done and I will continue to make progress into grade 10.
