Do you want to know why I had to draw for over 5 hours last week? Read on to find out!
Word Art
The first thing that we did was create a word art. This meant taking a word, and then making that word into a piece of art. We did this piece of art to learn about lines and pressure. I now am skilled in using my Apple Pencil to create different widths of line by use of different pressures.
My word that I chose to use was astronomy.
Robot
I got to design a robot in order to learn how to add shapes and make shading.
I can’t say this is my favorite piece of art that I have made, but I certainly did learn a lot about shading and shapes.
3D Shapes
In order to learn even more about 3D shapes, I drew some. This was really more of a practice activity than anything else, but it was still a fun and productive way of learning about different shapes and how to draw them.
I think that if I had to redo them, I would try using more of the watercolour brush, and try blending some of the pastels. My favourite is the one in the middle.
Emoji
I think out of all the activities I did last week, this one was my favorite. We had to create different emoji using SketchesPro, and I feel like I did a good job. I drew six emojis, plus a couple snow flakes.
From the top left going clock wise: happy emoji, sunglasses, mango, cold, snow, and confused emojis.
This is my favorite of all the drawings that I created. It is a mango, my favorite fruit.
I created several snowflakes. These were not part of our assigned work, but it was still very enjoyable.
What I Learned
Throughout this project, I learned about lots of different aspects of Sketches Pro, and how to use them. I can now use every single one of their varies tools, use their vast variety of colors, hues, and shades, apply different pressures and width, and shade.
I found this project to be a very rewarding, because I am able to draw and use similar skills for many projects in the future. Drawing could help you communicate nonverbally, convey ideas through simple pictures, and finally create beautiful pieces of art.
Overall, I learned many new things through this project, the most important being the importance of revision. I had to create many drafts to make my final pieces of art, and that can be a frustrating and challenging process.
Why We Learned This
in PLP, it is incredibly important to not only understand what you’re learning, but to understand why you are learning it. In this case, we learned all about drawing, because it’s very important skill to have both in general, and in school. When I started this project, I didn’t really understand how drawing would be. I just thought it was something that could be a hobby, or maybe a pastime. But now I understand that drawing is important, because it’s a form of communication as much as the other more common ones, like verbal (talking), or literary (writing).
Goodbye
Well, I will end this post by wishing you a good day. Whenever you want to, you are always welcome to comment on my posts. If you want to, you can comment on which drawing you like the best. As always, if you have any feedback or criticism, it would love to hear it.
The mango, cold & snowflakes are my favs. The blue planet is really nice too 👍🏼 Nicely shared Mimi.
