Hello and welcome back to my blog!

This blog is focusing on my latest Scimatics project. The driving question for this project was, How can the kinetic molecular theory and the the atomic theory explain the behaviour of matter? The final product of this project was a game or simulator about the kinetic molecular theory and the atomic theory that we coded in scratch.

Here are the definitions of the two theories

ATOMIC THEORY

KINETIC MOLECULAR THEORY

After a lot of research, we started to plan our games. This was the beginning of the planing of my game.

And here is a link to my finished game if you want to check it out. It’s basically just Rock Paper Scissors but with the different states of matter.

Curricular Competencies

Questioning and predicting: Demonstrate a sustained curiosity about a scientific topic or problem of personal interest.                                                                                                                                                                          For this Curricular Competency, I think I wasn’t as interested in this project as ones before this. It was a bit hard to stay engaged and to demonstration a sustained curiosity about the topic but I tried my best to keep an open mind and I was able to learn how to code and create things with scratch from it. I think this project helped me learn how to learn when I’m not totally interested in the topic. I think next time I do a project that I’m not interested, I can do better and hopefully get more interested

Scientific communication: communicate ideas, findings, and solutions to problems using scientific language, representations, and digital technologies.                                                                                                       For this Curricular Competency, I think I showed an accomplished understanding of it. Considering that the final product was supposed to be a coded game/simulator and I have never coded anything before in my life, I am really proud of my final product. Is it flawless? NO, is it pretty? Definitely NOT, am I proud of it? Hell ya! I also wanted to make sure it was creative. In my mPOL, I was told that I should try and make my projects more creative, so I did. NOBODY did anything close to what I did and that was my goal.

Reasoning and analyzing: Use logic and patterns (including coding) to solve puzzles and play games.                For this Core Competency, I was able to code a decent game by using logic, my mind, and YouTube (especially). Everything was functioning properly after many attempts to make it work. I just didn’t show the movement of the particles which was a pretty important part of the rubric. Probably should have read it more.

Last but not least, here is my project end mind map!

Thanks for reading my post! Have a good day!
