For the past couple of weeks, we have been learning about Pirates and early European Explorers! The driving question was, what were the causes and consequences of global exploration.

For this project, we had to create a story about a pirate or explorer who travels to the ‘New World’ (the Americas). We spent a majority of our time learning about explorers, their technologies, their motivation and much more. We also learnt a bout the results of global exploration.

The image above is something called a trade triangle. The image shows different things the Europeans brought and took from the Americas.

We also learnt about the causes and consequences of global exploration.

This is an activity sheet we did about the causes and consequences that resulted from European exploration. This shows underlying and immediate causes and consequences.

At the same time as gathering the information, we started writing a story about pirates. Over the project, we would continue to revise and reflect to improve our stories. I decided to base my story on what the Europeans would do to the Indigenous peoples and their population at the time.

While creating this video, I learnt many new skills. I was able to improve my drawing techniques, I learnt how to use AR maker which is what we used to make the video, and I learnt a lot of information about the early explorers.

Thanks for reading my post!
