We all love the show ‘The Office’ right?
All Grade 9s have Bring Your Kid to Work Day. If you don’t know what it is, it’s where you go with a parent or friend to their workplace and shadow them. We got to make a project for it which was surprisingly fun. Some kids get to go to amazing unique places, and I went to an office. Don’t get me wrong it was fun, but it was an office so not as many things to focus on. To fix that problem I decided to embrace the ‘officeness’ of it by trying to make it an Office episode.
My Dad is who I shadowed and it worked amazingly with the project. He does advertising and what is a big part of advertising? Videos! I was able to get inspiration from other things he has made and was able to get critique on it while still having the chance to make changes.
Having an opportunity like this was amazing because not only did I learn about Advertising, or improved my video making skills, I was able to do both in a workplace environment.
I would say this was so much more valuable then any other video I have made because of the workplace feel. It gave a great opportunity to work with other people, plan out a storyboard, and get critique.
