12: Oregon Operation 🇺🇸

“Guess who’s back; back again” -Eminem

The return of the king, Nikan is back!

The PLP 8s have returned from our first field study, landing in Oregon.

I hopped in the Kadi-Mobile (the van) on May 19th at 7:30am, accompanied with 5 other van-mates. The van was awesome, we just laughed, sang Taylor swift, and gossiped for like 8 hours. Good times.

Getaway Car. I’ve been hooked.

Over the course of the trip, we stayed at 3 different places; The cabins, the yurts and ✨the hotel✨.

Me and the cabins didn’t get along great. I was brushing my teeth on the first night, and I said to myself “I hate it here”. I thought if we were to get killed by an axe murderer, it’d be there. Luckily, I was able to recoup myself, and the rest of the time there was fine.

Next stop, the yurts.

Similarly to the cabins, I hated it, then liked it. For some reason, I have this thing where I just hate stranger-kids my age, and there were tons of them at the yurts. However, my yurt mates were absolutely bananas, so that made it fun. Again, after night one, it got better. I have an anxiety disorder (true), so it’s probably just that.

The hotel was the best, obviously. We had the option to go the gym or the pool, I chose the gym. I’m not confident enough to take off my shirt, fight me!

We just spent the rest of the night in our rooms, enjoying the free wifi. On May 25, we got outta there, and arrived at seycove at around 8:30pm.

On this trip, I learned about teamwork, advertising, how wolves are fed, and just about the US in general. I’ve been in America before, but on this trip, I really felt like I was visiting somewhere new.

Fun trip overall, excited for Alberta next year.

And until next time- Nikan out!
