What’s crackin’, Nikan the man back in the 604.
I just got back from my business trip in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta. Me and me coworkers embarked on this voyage for a week, filled with scurvy and harsh weather.
The driving question was “How has the geography of the west shaped who we are”.
Over the course of this trip, we were tasked with interviewing civilians with a thesis in mind, mine being “The accessibility of geographic elements that create outdoor activities has increased tourism- and thus, the economics- in Western Canada.”. You can see some of my interviews and thought process in this video here: https://youtu.be/IhPFPgIujQk?feature=shared . The interview process was stressful, but fun. I was always nervous to ask people for an interview, but everyone I asked said yes, and were all very nice. By interviewing people, we learned about asking questions, generally interviewing people, and learning the civilian thoughts of the west. Asking questions related to my thesis was pretty easy, considering hiking is one of the biggest tourist attractions in Alberta.
Another video we were to make was our silent video.
We found ourselves situated at the three-valley-gap ghost town, a town perfect for a 1920s style silent video. The rules were simple, work in a group of 4, video must have a plot, must be silent, have music, etc.

Filing was tons of fun, considering the wobbly-pop maneuvers we got to recreate. Our story follows a short little robber who goes on a crime spree, resulting in him crashing into a pole.
Our silent video taught us about filmmaking, editing, scriptwriting, and the story spine. All key features in the PLP program.
Then we have our TikTok. I did mine independently, thats just how much of a ultra-mega-super-brogle guy I am.
Mine was in the style of a Wes Anderson movie, I chose I because I found the other options cringe, and my brother is a Wes Anderson fanboy. I like the way my TikTok came out, mostly because I used a template. Even still, I think mines kinda cool. I learnt about camera composition, use of music, and replicating styles.

And finally, my at home video.
Our video challenge at home focused on what inspires us. I had lots of fun making mine, because we had so m cut creative liberty. It taught me about, again, video making, editing and scriptwriting.
Welp, that does it. Those were all the videos I made over the course of our project revolving around the western world.
Take it easy, and Doot Dootle doooo Do…..
