In this project we learned about the smallest parts of our body and bacteria
Zoomed In.
In this part of the project we took samples of water from dirty streams or rain water and looked at them with micro scopes. In this part of the project we learned how to use microscopes and adjust the settings to see the bacteria easier. We also did a field journal with this where we went through a process to find bacteria on our own here was my Field Journal. In this we learned how to be like field scientist by making a prediction and a hypothesis on what the results will be. My experiment was successful and my hypothesis and prediction were correct. I also learned how to run an experiment properly and fill out a field journal. I think in this part I didn’t do anything wrong I worked hard got good results and was quite happy with my work.
Warriors Of Our Body.
In the next part of this amazing project we learned about our immune system, like how it works and all the different parts. Here we learned about the white blood cell which is like the body’s worriers against bacteria. The B cells and T cells which do many things, the macrophage which eats bacteria, and antibody’s. after learning all about our immune system we took each part of it and made it into characters with different themes mine was basketball teams but then I ran out of time. Here are the ones I made
This is the link to my immune system characters.
in that link you can see all the information I gathered on each part of the immune system and what they do. Here we learned many things like how to draw cool characters, how to connect your learning with the characters, how our body fights of against bacteria. I think O could have made my drawings and art a lot better with more time and effort. I also could have added more information on each of the characters and maybe connected the info to characters with references. Overall this part was fun finding characters designing then and it was really interesting to learn about the immune system.
Vaccines.
During this part we talked about vaccines like how they started, how they work, what they do, and why some people don’t want them. So vaccines actually started with small pox and what people did was they took a similar disease called cow pox from the cows grinding up the scabs that were on the cows and rubbing it on the small pox. This is actually where the first anti vaccination people started and the reason they didn’t want to do this treatment was a fear of Turing into a cow if they rubbed the cow scabs on them. So this evolved from cow scabs all the way to needles and all these different types of vaccines like a inactivated vaccines is taking the virus that you want to prevent inactivate it then inject it into your blood stream so the body can learn to fight it. Or a live attenuated vaccines is when to take the virus you want to prevent and instead of killing it we use chemicals that really weakens it and puts them into like a mini coma then it is injected into our blood stream. Their is also a subunit vaccines is a vaccine that chops up the virus you want to prevent then injects it into your blood stream. And one last one which is a mRNA vaccine and what mRNA vaccines do is it copy’s the pathogens recipe kinda like make a fake version of the virus then its injected into the blood stream and the body finds a way to kill it and remembers the way to kill it next time it encounters the pathogen. The last one is a really fast way to make the vaccine and is how the covid vaccine was made. And that is one of the main reasons that people didn’t want the covid vaccine was because it was made so fast that people thought it was unsafe. So what we had to do was male posters on why vaccines aren’t harmful and are safe. My group was me and Sam here are our adds/posters! in this part of the project we learned how to convince people, how to make a campaign poster, how to use Canva, all about vaccines and how they were made, and why some people don’t trust vaccines.
Overall in this project we learned so many different things like how to run a field study, all about our immune system, and everything to know about vaccines. Overall I think I did good at making good predictions, having a good hypothesis, following the process, running my own experiment, writing about my immune system, learning about vaccines, taking lots of notes, making posters, adding lots of info, and trying very hard. I think I could improve on time management, drawing the characters of my immune system better, some deeper descriptions on my immune system, and adding a bit more info on why vaccines aren’t bad on the posters.
Overall I think I did a good job on this project but could work on a few things but anyway thanks for reading, bye!
