This is my blog for scimatics. In this project we built a triangle out of lasers to prove the Pythagorean theorem.
This is my lab report for our laser experiment:
Milestone 4: laser triangle lab
Question: how can we prove the law of reflection using the Pythagorean theorem
Hypothesis:
-I believe that with adequate tools our group can prove the law of reflection
Procedure:
-set up laser with mirrors pointing around
-angle mirrors so that laser shines 90 degrees
-60 degrees angles for other mirror
-shine laser and hope for a right triangle
-efficiently prove the law of reflection
Data/Results/Analysis:
s = squared
340s=115600
580s=336400
670s=448900
My answer was 452000 which means that the triangle was off slightly
Conclusion:
I may have made my angles a little off or counted the lines length wrong
This is our laser triangle which works by bouncing off mirrors. The laser diode is in the top left corner here and it shines down at the mirrors.
This is our laser triangle with the lights on. As you can see each of our mirrors is carefully placed at the perfect angle to create the triangle. The wires come from the alien generator thing which is actually a battery pack.
These are the calculations that enabled our triangle. Don’t worry, i cant understand them either.
thanks for reading my blog, this was a short one because i missed a lot of this project because of sickness.
This is a link to my mind map which i started at the start of the project and ompleted later on.
