So SLC’s are here and Spring break is just around the corner, in this blog post I’ll being showing you some of my work I’ve done throughout the year, I’ll show you work I’ve done that I’m proud of, I’ll show work that shows an example of my growth mindset, and I’ll show an example of my learning.

So work that shows that I have a growth mindset, The work that I’ll be showing is My groups DI project. DI or Destination Imagination is a volunteer-led, educational non-profit organization that teaches 21st century skills and STEM[Note 1] principles to kindergarten through university level students through creative and collaborative problem solving challenges. My group was called the Stream Huggers it consisted of Tatum, Ryan Leonard, Alex, and I. Our challenge we chose was Project Outreach, the challenge was to find a problem in a community and solve it, to carry out your plan and create a fairy tale starring non human characters. We quickly came up with ideas and got straight to work, our plan? Was to build a hatchery and water purifying system for a stream near Alex’s house. We never fully carried out our plan to build a hatchery but we built a model. At DI we did amazing, everyone loved our performance and it was amazing, this shows that I have a growth mindset because earlier on in the year our first big group project was the Metaphor Machine, I didn’t do to well on that project and slacked off a lot, and the overall final product was nothing near where it could have been. With DI everyone in my group did an equal amount of work and everyone tried their best, I’m very proud with how DI went but I know we can do even better in regionals. I can’t wait to see how we do in regionals as we crushed it the first time around.

(Below is a video of our performance)

Work that shows my learning is my Harry Potter blue sky video project. Blue sky is a yearly PLP tradition, we get to think of an inquiry question about a certain topic, reasearch and develop a project out of it on your own. I decided to make a video about my project. The inquiry question I thought of was, “If muggles knew about the wizarding world could it still function”. I had to research a lot as I knew barely anything about Harry Potter, or how to make a good iMovie video, I tested and made many drafts of this video. Over a period of time I developed skills I didn’t know I had. By the end of the project I knew how to create a good iMovie project, I could make a good voice over and project my voice better, I had better public speaking skills and was a lot more confident. The presentation of my project was great as everyone had interesting questions about my video and question. I loved talking to the viewers and explaining the project and why it was fun to do.mwe also had to decorate the presentation area in groups so the class decided to decorate the library as Hogwarts. My area was the Gryfindor common room, we had games, snacks, drinks, anything you could think of that would be in a common room. I learned a lot from this project and I actually really like blue sky now, I can’t wait for the next one and would love to improve my skills even further.

Below is the video I made.

Work that show I am proud of is definitely the Nirvana video My group made in Seattle. The project was to create a video showing how are selected person is “Crazy”. What I mean by that is that singular person goes above and beyond their capability and is crazy good at what they do. My group consisted of Lucas, Kyle, an I. At the start I was quite nervous as Kyle and Lucas weren’t getting along and wouldn’t listen to each others ideas. I pulled them together and said we need to do well on this project as we’re spending lots of money on this trip and we need to be proud of our work. I’m proud of this project because I did all the filming and most editing. We all did equal amounts of work but I’m overall proud of the video and how we got our group to work together. Thank you for reading this blogpost, it’s not fully at what I want it but as my wonderful PLP teachers always say “Revision Is Required”.

(Below is the first draft of the video as Kyle has the second draft and couldn’t give it to me in time).
