Why should I be in PLP Grade 10?
I should be in PLP 10 because I’m a good student for the program and I believe PLP 10 will improve the skills I have worked hard to develop this year.
For example, my Blue Sky project in PLP grade 8, compared to PLP Grade 9, was so much less built-out. I was not as clear demonstrating how my project evolved and my exhibit was a bit hard to follow – it was an Info Truck that traveled around educating people about property law. The way I did research on the project in grade 8 was very different to how I did it in grade 9. For example, for my last Blue Sky project:
• I learned how to access my network. For my Compass Card project, through a friend, I got in touch with Translink’s CIO (Chief Information Technology Officer) and two other Senior managers.
• I researched my project with people that are actually involved in the work I was looking at (software for Compass Cards).
It was not easy preparing for the meetings I had at Translink because:
• I had to write extremely clear e-mails requesting the meetings (had to re-write them a few times).
• I had to be prepared for the meetings – do some research on the people I met (I used LinkedIn).
• I was very nervous but it turned out great and I feel more confident having those sorts of meetings around future projects.
Growth
I got feedback this year about being a better team member and listening more to others ideas.
I really tried this year to act on that – my work on DI was an example of this – I really did try hard to work with my Improv team and listen to their ideas.
I worked hard to organize my schedule in order to get my work in on time
This was a challenge because this year I was:
• in two school bands,
• had private sax lessons,
• was in cadets
• I tried to build my resume by having a job at the Laserdome.
It was a super busy year but school came first and so I tried really, really hard to speed up how fast I work and get everything in on time.
Revision
My Franken Stuffy Video took a real commitment to revision.
My first video was gritty, boring , some parts didn’t even make sense.
Then I took the feedback I received, and by my third revision – it was simpler, more entertaining, and more refined.
I also worked hard to revise my British Revolution TRAIN video.
My first Train video was really basic and did not answer all the questions.
My revised version was much better:
• It told a fuller story,
• made more sense,
• you knew what impact trains had on Britain at that time period. in this video versus the first version.
High Quality Work
I think my Explain Everything videos have been of high quality.
I spent a lot of time making each one of them so that they were good quality.

• “Interactive Whiteboard” about my career path
• “Lets Show the British Who’s Boss”
Responsibility
I checked Showbie all the time – and worked hard to be responsible for knowing when work was due. Only once in a while did I have to ask others what was going on.
Another good example would be from when I went to DI with my Improv group. I tried to have good enthusiasm all the way through and at each tournament I worked hard.
Work Ethic
• I had a good attendance record.
• Even though I admit I got a little distracted with too many social dynamics at school – I was always really committed to the work, even if it did not look like it.
• I got a good amount of my assignments in on time
• I really tried to always pull my weight as a team member – I would stay and work on projects and volunteered to help out id asked – most times.
I hope that this information proves that I should be in PLP grade 10.
