Hey there and welcome to my blog, in this post I’ll be talking about projects that I’ve been doing for the past couple of weeks in my maker class. In our maker class we got split up into two groups one group was drawing and one was photography, in these groups we learnt different skills and techniques on each of them. I was in the drawing group first and I switched to the photography group after two weeks. I’ve also made a post relating to my drawing that You can visit that here if you want. In this post it will be similar to my drawing one, I will just be explaining my photos and what skills we learnt. I will now show you my photos down below! ⬇️

  • Birds eye view

In these first few photos we were practicing using different angles inside the school, we tried birds eye view, worms eye view, long shot, side view and more but I thought I would just include the best images that me and my partner took.

  • Close up

For this class our teacher took us down to the beach and we had to take lots of different types of photos that we were told to take. We took them with different angles, distances, and with “different photo types” like the pano’s or a square frame. After that we went back to class and we learnt how to use new photo editing apps where we learnt how to apply special filters, how to erase things from photos, how to change the tone and colour of the photo and tons more. It was super cool that we were able to learn those skills and I will definitely be using them in my photography again! I also created this fun pano with my friend where she switched positions throughout the photo and it made it like she was in the photo six times! The two people in the photos are my two friends Naomi and Evangeline, make sure to check out their blogs too.

In one of our classes we went on a short walk around the school and we were told to look for  patterns, colours or textures wherever we could find them and take photos of them to see all the different types of things we could see. I ended up taking lots of photos because I chose to look for patterns and it turns out there’s a lot of patterns everywhere, once you start looking for them!

One little assignment that we did is that we had to take a bunch of photos of one object and take those photos from a bunch of different perspectives and angles, I did this clear water bottle.

Then vs Now photo

For one of our last assignments we just got to recreate an old photo of us when were younger for fun. I couldn’t find any good photos that I had of me when I was young but I did have this one photo of me with a black eye from a few years ago so I decided to recreate it with some makeup becuase I thought it would be fun. I achieved a similar look by body position, emotion, and the surroundings around me because this photo was taken in the exact same spot as the photo from three years ago (although you can tell that I got a renovation recently).

Confused

For our very last assignment in Herzog (the photography group), we had to show an emotion through a photo I got “confused”.  In my photo I am looking at a poster and I’m confused because I don’t understand it. To be completely honest this is not my best work… But I was still able to portray the emotion well enough in the photo. I achieved this becuase i used body positioning, facial expressions, filters, positioning, and lighting to get this “confused look”.

Even after being in this class for just two weeks, I have learnt how to do so much!  I learnt new angles, how to use my camera better, new apps, how to achieve emotions through photography, and so much more!!!

Thats all for this post though, thanks for reading!
