Hey welcome back to my blog!
For the past six weeks my class has been working on a project in our humanities class. This project was about worldview and we also read the Outsiders novel By S.E Hinton. If you don’t know what the Outsiders book is about, basically it’s about two groups of people. One group is lower class and poor they are called the greasers, and the other group of people is the socs who are the rich upper class people. Throughout the book they fight and lots happens, and I mean lots… but I totally recommend to read it if you haven’t because it’s a super good book!
This project also had a driving question and that was “what can the Outsiders teach us about worldview?”
In case your wondering what worldview is, it’s a particular view or philosophy about life. Worldview has seven main aspects. Time, knowledge, society, economy, geography, beliefs, and values.
I will now show you my first assignment for this project. We created a worldview MindNode, here it is ⬇️

Another thing that we made was a movie poster, we had to create our own movie posters for the outsiders book. We made one poster first and then we got feedback and made a second version. My first one was starring Ponyboy and the ghost of Johnny. Here are my posters⬇️

In this project we were also put into groups, and we all had to show our posters and pick one out of the whole group to display at our winter exhibition, we used Kira’s poster as the final one⬇️

Eventually after learning about worldview and gathering information on everything in the outsiders book, my group had to make a tableau that we would be performing at our winter exhibition. If you dont know what a tableau is it’s a still image that you act out, so basically you act out a scene from something but it’s still.
My group got the scene in the book where Jonny, ponyboy and dally go and save kids from a burning church. We had to do a plan out our set so here is our “planning drawing” that we used to set up our tableau. ⬇️

I’ll also show some photos and a video from the night of the exhibition. You may also see that one of our group members is missing it is because she was sick and couldn’t come that night.

At the end of the exhibition everyone was super tired and it was hard but it was still super fun and it was a good learning experience.
To answer the driving question, “what can the outsiders teach us about worldview?” I can definitely think of a lot of ways that their worldview is much more different from mine. I think some big aspects of worldview in the Outsiders novel are Time, Economy, society and values. Because in this book these aspects of worldview are shown very clearly. Time because of how they dress, what they do, and the technology. Economy and society because of how people in the book are split into groups by wealth. And values because in this book there is one things that everyone cares about, Friendship. They all care deeply about friendship because the greasers, they only have each other. So in this book it taught me about how you live, who you surround yourself with, how you act, and your wealth can all effect your worldview strongly. I am very grateful that I am able to have the worldview that I have.
