Hi welcome to my blog,

In this post I’m going to be talking about fashion from the Victorian era! There are lots of styles and era’s of fashion but my all time favourite fashion era was the Victorian. I’m not quite sure why I like it so much but I always have. Now I will tell you about it.

This is some examples of what Victorian fashion could’ve looked like. I love this style because of how different it is to other eras that came before it. In the Victorian era they wore corsets which would push up their chests and accentuate their waist lines making them have instant curves. The skirts of the dresses were really big and full and they would wear petticoats and bustles to make them look like they had bigger backsides. The most common fabrics were silk, cotton, and lace. For everyday wear the dresses would tend to be darker colors and for parties they would usually be pretty pastels. They also used frills to give a bigger shape to the dresses.

One thing that I really like about some of the dresses is that at the same time they looked both feminine and masculine. Quite often the upper part of the dress would look like a waistcoat, and to me this looked more masculine. While the frills and the lace and the big skirts still looked quite feminine.

The last thing I really liked about this era was the accessories. Considering that hair was washed around once a month, hats were very popular. Usually the women would wear a brimmed hat outdoors before 5pm, and a lace cap for indoors. Also people used to stuff and mount exotic birds on to their hats to look extra fashionable!

Thanks for reading I hope you learned a little bit about the Victorian era in this post.
