What can we learn from the past, and why does that matter to us today?
Introduction
This unit really made me question my knowledge and understanding of history and our lives today. It was overwhelming and took a great deal of self reflection in order for me to complete. For this project the final product would be our measurements exhibit. This would be digital due to Covid-19 however, still feature the work of every student in the classroom. Overall, this project taught me the importance of history.
Milestone 1
For the first milestone we were tasked with creating blueprints of a museum exhibit that was cantered around a meme, meme was based on the “how it started and how its going” meme format. It was suppose to represent how our time in plp stated and how it ended for me. At the start of the project I had a difficult time understanding what our teachers wanted in the museum and just how hard I had to work on the project. I think I did really well on the art and just how much detail I put into both the background and the objects.
Milestone 2
The collage took a great deal of thought and creativity in order to create. For milestone two we had to create a collage that represents time in my life that helped develop my worldview. We additionally, had to explain in a document why we chose certain symbol or aspects of the artwork. I used to procreate to draw representations each of the events that happened in my life and then stacked each picture on top of each other to create a collage. At then end of this project we created a a book with all our collages in, you can find it right below this text.
I believe I did really well on the representing my worldview into art. This can be show by how I used symbols like the Canadian flag, books and silhouettes to get my point across. However, I could improve on writing in more detail for the description and position the photos so your able to see fully each individual pictures. In general, milestone two helped me to understand the key elements in my life that made up my worldview.
Milestone 5
For Milestone five we had to create a piece of art that was based on our first how it started how its going meme, however, it had to be based on a piece of art. This art piece had to be created in the ages of the Renaissance and medieval times. I used SuperimposeX to create the how it’s going side of my art. I additionally wrote my artist statement which, explained how specifically my artwork relates to my piece of art. I was in Society thus, I wanted my picture to represent the wealth gap in society.
Additionally, I was tasked with being the writer for the society group and had to write our tour guid for our museum exhibit. I think one thing I need to improve on for this milestone is trying to keep track of everything that has to be done and stay more focused.
Core Competencies:
Empowered Learner: How might I use technology to connect knowledge?
I believe I have somewhat reached this competence by using apps to help me create my final art piece. I used the app, SuperimposeX, to make the how its going side of my art piece. I think I used the right symbol to represent my point that the more wealthy you are the more opportunities your likely However, I think I could improve on in the future using more than one app to create the perfect how it’s going side of my art. I hope I will discover more technical methods in the future to improve my work.
Responding to Text:Have I constructed an original personal, critical, and creative connection between myself, the text and the world with supportive credible evidence?
I believe that I met some aspects of this competence. I think I need to improve making a stronger connection with myself for this competence. I one really used how my family is wealthy and how I’m given these opportunities to connect to my artwork. However, I did a really good job connecting to how today we still live in the modern hierarchy we did back then. Overall, I hope to do more connecting to my personal experience in future.
Establish historical significance: How do we make choices what is worth remembering?
I think I have fully achieved this competence. I think I fully explained in my argument and in my recording why its important to remember society in our group. I did this by explaining the modern hierarchy and how it affects the opportunities each individual gets. I additionally, explained that I hope we can make a difference since the system we currently have is unfair.
Conclusion
In general, history makes up who we are. Even though we weren’t part of any event in the past it still shapes our worldview. This is due to our western worldview being taught to us through who the government chooses as teachers or what we see on television . Overall, I hope eventually I can get rid of negatives parts of my worldview.
