Bio Technology Career Awareness Program

An opportunity for a student to do scientific research in the area of Biotechnology and explore careers in this area.

Once again BCIT is offering their BioTechnology Career Awareness Program in December or April for students in grade 11 or grade 12.  If you are enthusiastic about scientific research, lab work and our interested about careers related to biotechnology. The program will provide bus transportation (when applicable) between the laboratory and the industry site.

Discovery Days in Health Sciences

Discovery Days in Health Sciences is a one-day event that give secondary school students and teachers the opportunity to explore a variety of career options in medicine and the health sciences.

Organized by The Canadian Medical Hall of Fame and hosted by the research institute at BC Children’s Hospital, the day is comprised of a dynamic keynote lecture, hands-on workshops and a career panel discussion. Students gain a clear picture of what it would be like to be a health professional by interacting with researchers, clinicians and educators in their real-life work setting.

Neonology leadership summer camp (Free)

The camp will take place from July 25th to 29th with an overnight on July 28th. The camp will be an opportunity for participants to learn leadership, team building and community engagement skills. The camp is free and will include Neonology workshops on anti-oppression and inclusion to help youth become ambassadors for diversity and inclusion in their community.

Vancouver Aquarium (Summer Volunteer Opportunities)

The Vancouver Aquarium is currently looking for summer volunteers to fill various positions! Positions include: Marine Educator Aqua Camps, Gallery Interpreter, and Gallery Assistant.

A total of 175 positions need to be filled this summer; mostly full-time but some part-time. If you are interested in volunteering for the Vancouver Aquarium this summer see Ms. Parmar for more position details and how to apply.

Hairstylist Program!

The Burnaby School District has a hairstylist program and has seats available for their next cohort.  This is a two year program offered at Alpha Secondary. Students would still remain Seycove students, however, they would spend one day at Seycove and the other day at Alpha Secondary to participate in the program. Students must be in grade 10 – 12 to enroll. Spaces are limited, so if you are interested please see Ms. Parmar ASAP !
