North Vancouver Recreation & Culture is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families and communities. We offer a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities. ABOUT THE JOB
We are currently looking for Summer Camp Leaders for our various indoor and outdoor camps including programs for school-aged children and youth between June 27 and September 2, 2022. The hours of work will vary according to where you are placed and the registration numbers.
ABOUT YOU You are a team player committed to community. You are courteous and effective with the public and enjoy working with a diverse group of people. You must be able to prepare and lead a wide variety of programs and activities including sports, arts and crafts, games, outdoor exploration and walking trips to parks, forests and community centres. You are highly enthusiastic and capable of motivating and encouraging others. You will be responsible for promoting a positive, healthy and safe environment for campers. In addition, you must be able to work effectively with children, and work closely and cooperatively with parents and facility staff, while providing safe, quality camp programs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Strong organizational and interpersonal skills Demonstrated ability to organize and provide leadership for children and youth activities Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C High Five Certification (available online through BCRPA)
Successful applicants must be available for paid training between June 24th and 26th
Preference will be given to candidates with previous camp experience and working in a leadership role with children in a variety of settings such as arts and crafts, dance, sports and/or ESL.
All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position. All candidates must be prepared to work at any of our facilities.
HOURS OF WORK: The shifts may vary from 4 hours per day up to 40 hours per week depending on availability and program requirements.
HOURLY RATE: The pay for this unionized position is $20.72 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
