CTS Youth Society – Summer Camp Volunteers
Peer Leader Program
Our Peer Leader Program equips CTS youth members (age 15-18) with training to become volunteer Peer Leaders. Peer Leaders are trained in leadership, program development, outdoor recreation and outdoor safety to plan and lead camp excursions in Metro Vancouver’s Regional Parks (with support from experienced Camp Supervisors). A great way to have fun while boosting your career and academic resume, volunteer Peer Leaders make our “for youth, by youth” programs the best they can be! Applications open Monday, April 3rd 2023.
What will Peer Leader participants do?
- Participate in Peer Leader Training, CTS Bootcamp, and In-Park training to learn about outdoor education, outdoor safety and hone your camping skills
- Inspire, plan, and deliver camp program activities (with support from trained Camp Counsellors)
- Organize and execute menu plans for overnight camps
- Collaborate with other Peer Leaders in a team environment
- Practice mentorship to CTS Youth participants
- Lead in one or more camp locations throughout the summer

JIBC – Law Enforcement Studies Career Fair – March 20
JIBC is hosting a law enforcement career fair on Monday, March 20th from 11am to 2pm – during spring break. Learn more about a career in law enforcement from employers including representatives from the RCMP, Canada Border Services Agency, Vancouver, Surrey, Delta, New West Police, BC Corrections & Probation, BC Sheriff Service, Surrey Crime Prevention Society, E-Comm 911, private security companies and more. Parking is free at their New West campus, space is limited.

Sports Leadership Program
Attention students interested in our Sport Leaderships, Education, and Development (SLED) Program at our North Van facility. If you need any further information on our SLED Program, please do not hesitate to contact me.
SLED Program Details
The SLED Program is a minimum 35 hour volunteer program and broken down into a number of different workshops:
- Two 6 hour workshops (hosted on Saturdays)
- One 5 hour online learning module to be done at your own pace
- 20 hours of practical “on-the-floor” work experience
The curriculum supports youth in their understanding of how they can influence others and how to support others in their learning.
Application Applicants should make sure they are able to attend both Saturday in-person training sessions that are listed online.To apply, fill out our online SLED Application Form before March 25, 2023. Successful applicants will be contacted.

NVRC – Spring Break Camp Leaders
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide leadership for children
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- High Five Certification
Preference will be given to candidates with previous camp experience and working in a leadership role with children in a variety of settings. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position. All candidates must be prepared to work at any of our facilities. Compensation: $20.72 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
Spring Break – Head Camp Leader
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to organize and provide leadership for children and youth activities
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor other camp leaders and volunteers
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C
- High Five Certification
- Previous volunteer experience working with children/youth considered an asset
Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working in a role with children in a variety of settings such as camps, arts and crafts, dance, and sports. Applicants may also be considered for Playground Leader 1 position. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position. All candidates must be prepared to work at any of our facilities. Compensation: $23.79 per hour plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
