Religion Unit

In the past 2 weeks our class has been going on multiple field trips to temples, churches, and other sacred places as we have been studying worldview and religion. The question we had to ask ourselves was how is the worldview of these different religions represented in the real world?

The first time we went to these sacred places we were gone for the whole day. We went to this place called the Highway to Heaven where all of the temples were located pretty close to each other.

The first place we visited was the Hindu temple.
At first when we entered I wasn’t sure what to expect but when we went upstairs there were beautiful statues of the Hindu gods.
Here are some photos from the temple.

The next place we went to was the Tibetan buddhist temple.
Out of all the temples, churches, and sacred places I found this one the most beautiful with so many colours and meanings to each thing in that temple that you looked at.
Here are some photos:

After the Tibetan Buddhist temple we went to a Chinese Buddhist temple where we learned about meditation. Here is a photo.

After that we went to the Sikh temple, this is where we ate Indian food for lunch which was pretty good. Once we finished lunch we learned a little about what the Sikhs believe in.

The next time we went out was just for a part of the day. During this time we went to the Jewish Synagogue, where we learned some interesting facts about when they pray.

Our final day we first went to a church.

And finally the last place we went to was the Islamic mosque. This was the place where I probably learned the most about the religion and I found It very interesting. Unfortuanitly I didn’t take any photos.

This was an amazing experience to learn about religions from people who actually practice the religion and their point of view and I would definitely do this again some day.
