Seycove Disruption

A couple weeks ago our class went on a big trip to California where they went to San Francisco, San Diego and San Jose. I unfortunately didn’t go because of an important volleyball tournament and basketball playoffs but it sounded like a very fun and yet educational trip.

While my class was away I stayed back with 4 other of my classmates: Spencer, Michael, Reid and Kyle. During this time, while our class and teachers were away, we were assigned a project where we had to document our days in a book of what we did. We showed our activities outside of school and wrote about some different disruptions around the school and community. The reason disruption was a big part of our book is because disruption is the theme of our unit that we have been working on since the beginning of this term.

Seycove Disruption Podcast

Another project, we worked on while our classmates were away, was a project about disruption at Seycove where we created a podcast. For this project, I decided to do my podcast on PLP and its disruption to Seycove. I interviewed students both in and outside the program to get their opinions on how PLP impacts the school. My first interview was with Gabi, a PLP student who has been in the program for 4 years, I used this interview for the first draft of my podcast. My second interview was with a student outside the program as I thought it would be good to get an opinion outside of PLP. This interview was with Chelsea who is in the main stream. These interviews really helped me create a podcast with different opinions that weren’t super biased as I’ve been in the program for 3 years therefore if my opinion was only given it wouldn’t make a very engaging podcast.

(My drafts for my podcasts will be coming soon)

My 10 Days At Home

The first day our class left I had a senior girls school basketball game against Kelowna, who are one of the top ranked teams in the province. At first it was a close game but during the second half we fell behind but still stayed in the game. Unfortunately we lost but I definitely feel like I had a very good game offensively and defensively and held my own against some of the stronger players.

The second and third day I had a very important Volleyball tournament called a Super Series which was one of 4 provincial placement tournaments for club volleyball. This tournament was a long playing day with 5 games per day which was very tiring. However, I had a lot of fun hanging out with my teammates and playing a sport I love. Although I was a little sad I had to miss two basketball games on Saturday because of this Volleyball tournament.

After this tiring basketball game and Volleyball tournament I had another basketball game against Whistler on the forth day our class was away. This was not our best game as we lost by quite a bit to a team that I know we can win against. It was an unfortunate loss and it just wasn’t our best day but we definitely did better winning 59-45 against Collingwood on Wednesday the sixth day our classmates were away.

Throughout the rest of this week I also had Volleyball practice and basketball training but I don’t want to bore you with the details. One thing I did do though was come in every morning before school to practice shooting for basketball which really helped during my games and made me more confident with my shot.

The Book

During the creation of our books about what we did while our class was away, I included a lot of photos from my Volleyball tournament and basketball games. On top of this, I also did the required work on each page of the book which was mostly about Disruption (both positively and negatively). At times I found this quite overwhelming as we had to create videos and write long write ups on different subjects. Some parts were difficult but it mostly just took a lot of time especially when trying to make the pages look presentable and cohesive with each other. Overall I am very proud of the final product of my book and the time and effort I put into the creation process. Here is the book, I hope you enjoy reading it or looking it over:
