In math class we have been learning about similar triangles, scale diagrams, enlargement and reductions and similar polygons. To understand some of these we did some worksheets called Blueprint Dream house.
Throughout these worksheet we work on different things like finding the square footage of a room and turning a scale model into what would be the actual size. We also had to measure and design blueprints of houses including kitchens.
At the end of these worksheets we had to come up with a dream house using the math we had just learned. This is my group’s dream house.
the main house is over 4000 square feet, with 4 bedrooms and 5 bathroom. It has a four car garage, two outdoor living spaces and an open living plan. The guest house is around 800 square feet with one bedroom and one bathroom. The hardest part of the project was meeting at the building requirements in our design like the kitchen being a specific amount of square feet.
In the end this was a very fun project with many challenges that made math more fun because we got to add a personal touch to our design.
