🏎️ How does experiencing a workday shape our view of career choices? 🏎️
About TYKTWD
This November, the grade 9 students of PLP all participated in take your kid to work day. During our day at work with whoever we chose to go with, (in most cases, a Mom or Dad) we were also given the task of making a video about our day at work.
TYKTWD video
For our video, we documented everything we did that day, everything we learnt, and other information we wanted to include. For my video, I went with my dad and learnt all about what he did for work. My dad is the director of real estate and the express program for Encorp Pacific. I learnt all the ins and outs of real estate, and enjoyed a wonderful day with my dad. If you want to see me go more in depth, please watch my video right below!
My answer to the driving question, and what I learnt!
Just in case you forgot, our driving question is: “How does experiencing a workday shape our view of career choices?” My answers to this question would be: Going to work with my Dad has showed me what it like in the workforce, in the interview I did, my Dad said he would never have thought that he would end up with this job, but he learnt everything, and mastered it! My day at work with my Dad showed me that this job in the office isn’t actually as glum as I originally had thought, (As mean as that sounds) it was actually a really fun and insightful day where I learnt a lot about real estate, and how interesting it actually is. A workday can shape my career choices and shape how I think about jobs, in this case, it showed me about a job that I never thought I would enjoy, but I actually ended up enjoying!
Thank you Dad!
As a thank you to my dad for letting me come with him to work, we also were tasked with making an email to whoever we went to work with! Here’s my email, and thanks to my Dad!
Conclusion
In conclusion, this project was a great opportunity to learn about what its like to work a job, learn about what careers I enjoy, and also find a career path I might pursue in the future! Thanks for reading my blog, and make sure to check out some other posts!
