tPOL Time! πŸ—£οΈ

Hello and welcome to my 2024 TPOL! Over the next 7 minutes I will be sharing to you why I should move on to grade 10. Specifically, I will be sharing evidence that demonstrates how the PLP success behaviours have prepared me for grade 10.

DECLARATION:

Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.

Recently in my mpol I created a goal for myself, that goal was to approach every project with a positive attitude and enthusiasm. I created this goal because I found this year a PLP success behaviour I struggled with, was enthusiasm. Last semester I found I often relied on others opinions Instead of my own. I let other people tell me how I felt about certain projects instead of telling myself. While completing my last two projects In The Name Of Nationalism and WW1 Con I found I took steps toward completing my goal. I found I was more excited to learn about nationalism in Germany and the events that happened in WW1. Being able to formulate my own opinions was one reason enjoyed these projects more. When I can find a way to make a project fun, or make it relatable, I have an overall better experience while doing the project. During our project, In The Name Of Nationalism, I created an engaging video because I was enjoying learning about the topic of German nationalism. My excitement for this projectΒ  enticed me to research how German nationalism lead to WW1 and WW11. I am excited to transfer my knowledge and learn more about WW11 next year. I have taken many good steps toward completing my goal, but this is something I will continue to work on throughout next school year.Β

One of the success behaviours I have shown strength in this year is resilience. No matter the project, or challenge I will always try my hardest to overcome any setbacks I face. This really shined through during DI. DI was a series of problems or setback that needing fixing, and that exactly what my group and I did. No matter how hard the challenge was we were able to create a solutions. For example, when our puppet broke minutes before going on stage at our provincial tournament, we were able to create a solution on the spot. We quickly added weights to keep the puppet up right, while reattaching the and adding water back into the puppets arm. Our adaptability and perseverance allowed for a quick fix and a smooth performance. More recently in the WW1 Con project I was running into a problem. The amount of time it took to draw each panel, and the amount of time I had to complete the project, was not equal.Β  I knew if I was to keep going at the pace I was, my project would not be handed in on time, so I had to pivot. Instead of drawing out the same scene two or three times I used the same image, but changed the way the characters were standing. My ability to pivot, using this technique, was the main reason I finished my project on time.Β

Another success behaviour I demonstrated growth in this year was balance. This is a topic that I find I talk about a lot, but that’s because it is extremely important. Having good balance between my school and life is crucial for me to complete projects. With my extremely busy schedule filled with basketball, hockey, and softball, I need to ensure I prioritize my schoolwork. Although I have made a commitment to my teem and value being at practices, I recognize that school comes first and that my work should be a priority. During the project In The Name Of Nationalism, although I really wanted to go to my basketball practice I knew I had to skip it to ensure I was able to complete my project. In grade ten I know my workload will get heavier so really being able to balance school with extra curricular activities will be a challenge. But like anything, its a challenge I can overcome!

In conclusion, I know that I positively demonstrate the PLP success behaviours. By successfully demonstrating these behaviours I know that I am ready to move to Gr. 10. I will ensure I challenge myself by remaining enthusiastic, in all my projects. I will continue to keep a good school, and life balance. This year in PLP 9 I have grown so much. Wether it be learning more about myself at loon lake, or getting challenged my DI, this year has come with many ups and downs. I am very proud of myself for getting through the downs and climbing back up to the top. Instead of saying what goes up must come down, lets say, what goes down, must come up!Β

Thank you for listening to my tPOL and have a great rest of your day!
