This being my first ever exhibition I think it went pretty good. This project was focused on avatar and the driving question was “what does James Cameron’s fantasy world of avatar reveal about our own society?” In this project we had use one of avatars many themes to create a box. I chose the theme humans vs. Nature. We were then put in groups with people who had also chosen this theme.
There were definitely some good things, and things that went well. For example pretty much everyone was doing something at all times (At least I was). I also think hat everyone did a great job presenting their project and the rooms looked very nice. I also think that there was good feedback from the older grades and them helping us with our rooms. The only thing is when gr.8’s, 9’s and 10’s are asked to create a design for a room in 2 days and it has to be fully covered some things can go wrong.
I think I got a good group and almost everyone was helping set up and contribute ideas. I think that we had a great idea of what we wanted our room to look like but I’m not sure our execution was amazing. Part way through the exhibition, the curtains covering the walls fell down and so did the signs. I think we also had some troubles with our communication. I think that the grade 8’s and 9’s knew what was happening with our room, but the communication with the 10’s definitely lacked. There was also a lack of communications with the teachers telling us what to do.
overall I think the exhibition went well. I think next time there should be at least 1 time where our whole group can come together and finalize the details for the room design. I also think that the exhibition should be a little shorter, not only for the sake of our legs, but because towards the end no one was coming in to see our projects. Even with the downfalls I think I can call my first exhibition a success!
