came into grade 10, with lots of excitement, ready to learn, like every year.
We had some fun stuff planned for our first PGP project, and I wanted to make the most of it.This project was about positivity and work habits to set me up for success.
A positive mind is an efficient mind
About positivity
Positivity is what makes us want to be happy, and in the end, makes us happy. We work better, enjoy more and stress less. It seems like a miracle to have such a simple concept with so many positive effects. Where’s the catch? Well, it’s harder to be positive than one would think.
I have unconsciously been negative for so long, that it has made my mindset automatically want to be negative. Think to yourself; Do I have to spend time training my mind to be positive? Although it is only around 10 minutes a day, spending this time to consciously be more positive will change my mind. If I am consciously thinking about positivity, and why I am doing it, I will change my mindset.
My plan for gr 10 – personal productivity system
Through PLP, it is apparent that I need a system. In grade 8, I focused on habits that I could repeat and getting good sleep. I didn’t get enough sleep for a while when I was younger and that definitely affected my learning so it makes sense that I would focus on it, but that wouldn’t be enough for the bigger workload of the next year.
In grade 9, I still had some focus on getting out and about in the morning, but more about how to deal with excess homework and remind myself about homework.
I have things reminders for every project, so whenever I start a work session I check everything that I have to do. This has become a work habit of mine, and I have to say that it is till now very helpful.
Learning plan
I haven’t had the best start to my learning year, but I want to make a rebound. I have had a lot going on at the start of this year. A lot of the time I would have was being used getting used to a new and busier schedule. Climbing competitions, volunteering, school sports and clubs. Soon, I’ll have more time
For this pre-pol, I wanted to make three slam poems. I have now realized that I may not be that quick, so I shortened them to haiku’s. I wanted them to be time captures, showing me in the start of grade 10.
A short time turns long,
Memories made, I have changed,
Am I still the same?
Should I keep going,
A never-ending cycle,
Winter break is near.
Driving Question: What strategies can I use to maintain balance in my life and support my own well-being?
I stay organized so that I can always get good sleep. I use things prominently to engage in better-structured work and make sure I don’t get to points of exhaustion. I have lots of time in the morning for schoolwork, but I have to make sure I don’t sacrifice sleep for work. My highest priority is getting at least 8 hours of sleep per night, hopefully 9. I am able to work hard and live hard as long as I get my sleep.
To conclude,
I have confidence for the rest of the year, because of my better work habits than last year. I have to stay disciplined so that I don’t fall behind. I am less efficient when I have a lot on my plate, but if I can stay positive, I can achieve anything.
