Everyone has a role model or mentor. There is always someone that you look up to, that you want to be like when you grow up. There could be one person or many people and these role models, depending on who you are, can be very different. In class we were asked to chose five different role models and right a bit about why they are our role models. I knew a lot of people I look up to as people so I started writing right away the people I chose are Chance the rapper, Mr. Williams, my mom, my dad and Martin Luther King jr. I chose these people for all different reasons and I can’t wait for you to read about them.
Chance the rapper is is famous and is very quickly growing in popularity. This is due to a couple reasons and they are all pretty amazing. First of all and maybe the most important is that he never stops trying. He does his best all the time and that is why his music is so good. He turns down money from record labels to stay independent and be who he wants to be. Chance the rapper doesn’t care what other people want him to do and who they want him to become, he stays true to himself. He is also a very kind person. He meets fans whenever he sees them and even recently he said he would donate 1,000,000$ to public schools in Chicago. He does things that not a lot of other stars do and that’s why a lot of people look up to him. He is completely different int he way he does things and there are a lot of things really special about him.
Peter Williams
Mr. Williams isn’t a celebrity, or anyone famous. He was my grade seven teacher and one of the best teachers I have ever had. He was new at cove cliff in grade seven but it turned out to bet the best year of elementary school. He has lots of fun in the class and with the students. We ended up looking forward to come to school because he was there to teach and have fun while doing it. Mr. Williams is also in cross fit, this is like the Olympics except just weight lifting a physical training. To do this you have to be very determined and to not give up and that is one thing Mr. Williams definitely is. Mr. Williams also helps you a lot in school by offering out of class time to explain something one on one until you get it. He develops a good connection with the students and everyone likes him. He is overall a great person and a joy to be around.
Lee Buckingham (Dad)
My dad is my best friend and he is amazing. He will always be there for me and I will always be there for him, he is my top role model. He’s always there to help me when I need it and will never complain. He always offered his help no matter how tired he is or how bad his day has been at work. It seems like my dad has an endless amount of stamina (even though I know he doesn’t) but he just keeps on going. If there’s something that needs to be done he will do. He believes in me and that’s all I can ask for. Finally he has a great sense of humour. You can have a great laugh with home and that just makes him so much fun to be around. No matter what you can always have a laugh with my dad.
Martin Luther king
Martin Luther King is an American idol and is one of the people on my list that is famous. He is most famous for his movements for the rights of black people in America. He believed that there was something better for the black community out there. He believed in a better future and because of him and the efforts he caused black people now have the rights they should have always had. MLk is also a very determined person and never stopped what he was doing until it was enough. He had the ability to get other people on his side. His influence was pretty amazing, he managed to be braver and speak the minds of people that were afraid to do so themselves. He was an amazing person and had a huge influence not only in America, but for the whole world.
Beverley Buckingham (Mom)
My mom always remains positive no matter what stupid things I have done. She always has a smile in her face and that’s on of the things I love about her. My mom is incredibly organized and is always on track. She manages the whole Canadian branch of a company that tests medical drugs. She always wants to help out with me and my sister and always offers her help to us. She likes to be involved in what we are doing and has fun doing a lot of the things we like doing. My mom is very smart and went to school for along time. She knows what she is doing and is always very confident about it. My mom just keeps on going and it seems like nothing can stop her. Overall she is an amazing person and an absolute joy to be around.
