Welcome to my final Mpol!!

“Thank you for coming to my presentation of learning. I am the expert on my own learning. I am also responsible and accountable for my own learning. You can expect me to give an honest evaluation of my progress. We will discuss my strengths and opportunities for growth. Thank you in advance for listening and for offering feedback that I can use to improve as a learner.”

Today I will be reviewing this school year so far. I will answer a couple of questions, review my VMV from earlier this year, and talk about my plan moving forward.

So far this year, I have improved in many ways based off of my VMW. I started using consistent study habits, including the ‘Pomodoro Method’ and changing locations to the school and the public library when I feel distracted or unmotivated. After reading “How to Do Things You Hate” by Peter Hollins, I found some good ways to combat my stress, such as the 90 second rule. I still struggle somewhat with dwelling on things out of my control, but have found that just trying to focus on anything else—not unlike the 90 second rule—helps a lot. In order to make sure I was on track during final products, I made checkpoints for myself along the way. As well, to stay motivated I try to focus my research on things I’m interested in. For example, when writing the essay for my Feminism project, I set checkpoints for every few days in Things regurading research, and writing. I also cantered my project on something I’m passionate about, being the Emmy award winning show South Park.

On the other hand, there are definelty ways I can still improve in the ladder half of the school year. Such as not fearing failure, and acknowledging small achievements to build up my confidence. Also, like previously stated, I still fixate and worry about things out of my control. To work on these parts of my VMV in the last half of the year; I will start to develop a habit of daily or weekly self-reflection to stay aligned with my long-term goals and make sure I’m focusing on what’s right, and keeping a record of accomplishments to reinforce self-confidence.

Overall, I’ve done a good job acheiving many of the goals I set for myself this year on my VMV. All though, I still need to work on some areas of it in the ladder half of the year. Thank you so much for coming to my Mpol!
